WORSHIP

One of the most important things we can do is worship God. Hillcrest is purposeful in arranging our Sunday, church-wide congregational worship experiences for the benefit of all generations, with emphasis on the generations coming up behind us. In addition to our Sunday services at both campuses, there are opportunities for worship in the Pastor’s Wednesday Night Bible Study, as well as other events aimed at those of us who have reached that silver age of 55!

CONNECT GROUPS

Here at Hillcrest, we encourage EVERYONE to be part of a small group, a group of people that knows your name, a group of people that knows you better than is possible in a large group setting like a worship service. Our name for these small groups is “Connect Groups.” You may know them by their former (and sometimes still-used) names: “Sunday School Classes,” “Life Groups,” or “Bible Study Classes.”

We offer a variety of small groups: women only, men only, co-ed, multi-generational, at both the Nine Mile Campus and at the Spanish Trail Campus. So PLUG IN! GET CONNECTED in a small group!

A low-impact recreation activity designed especially for older adults

A Senior physical activity class that promotes well-being, balance, and flexibility

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 - 10:30am
Northwest Hall - Nine Mile Campus.

FELLOWSHIP

Game Day

About once a month we have 55+ Game Day in the Northwest Hall (or, sometimes, Heritage Hall). Board games, dominoes and cards are offered, plus a no-cost lunch.

Luncheons

These are our “BIG EVENTS” for Hillcrest 55+: a lunch or dinner meal, along with a time of worship and/or special program, usually (but not always) on Thursdays. Sometimes pot-luck, sometimes catered, the two biggest events are our annual, fully catered Spring Banquet in April and our Christmas Banquet in December.

TRIPS

Day Trips

Throughout the year, we plan several low-cost day-trips for the 55+ group: Shopping in Foley, Bellingrath Gardens Christmas lights, a tour of the Hyundai manufacturing plant near Montgomery, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, to name a few.

One and Two Night Trips

Planned especially for those who cannot be gone from home for long trips, or who cannot walk great distances, these trips are “low-impact,” physically and economically. You never know where we will end up!!

Big Trips

These are our “BIG” trips for Hillcrest 55+! Our Travelers have been on an Alaskan Bible Study Cruise, to the Grand Canyon, to Washington, D.C., and many other places in recent years.

STAY CONNECTED

The 55+ Ministry publishes a newsletter throughout the year to keep everyone up to date on the latest news, events, and trips. The newsletter is mailed out to those within the ministry, so if you would like to receive and currently do not, please call the church office and ask to be put on the list.
