Take the next step in ...becoming like Christ

Life Focus

2012 Spring | Life Focus Discipleship Classes

You know that routine you go through in the morning where you just woke up and you’re trying to focus in on what’s around you? Can you imagine going through your entire day with that kind of vision? And yet, many of us do just that in our walk with Christ. We just don’t take the time to FOCUS. This spring, slow the pace for a few weeks and sharpen your focus. Sometimes we need to gather with other Christians who might be going through the same thing or to hang out with others who are looking for the same answers. That’s what Life Focus is all about. This spring we’re offering several opportunities for you to focus in. This is different than Life Groups or Home Groups. And it’s different than your own personal quiet time. If you are interested in more information regarding any of these classes, please contact us.

Registration is not required. Books will be available the first night. For more information, contact Karen Thrower at 850.476.2233 x11 or kthrower@hillcrestchurch.com.

Feasts of the Bible

Facilitated by Rod Williamson
Sundays | 6:00p
Beginning January 22 | L107
7 weeks | Book Fee $8
Onsite Childcare Available

Some Christians miss the importance of the biblical feasts, seeing them as merely Jewish holidays, but Scripture says these are the Feasts of the Lord God established for all people for all time. Now you can connect the Hebrew roots of Christianity and the symbolism that points to Jesus Christ. Through this study you will explore the importance of Shabbat, Passover, Pentecost, the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Kippur, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
The six sessions are:

  1. What are the biblical feasts and the Sabbath rest (Shabbat)?
  2. What is the meaning and fulfillment of Passover?
  3. What is the Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot) and what does it teach us about the Church?
  4. The Feast of Trumpets.
  5. The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), the scapegoat and other symbols.
  6. The Feast of Tabernacles and Jesus’ fulfillment.

The challenge every man faces…the fight every man can win! From movies and television, to print media and the Internet, men are constantly faced with the assault of sensual images. We have known those who have failed in their battle for sexual purity, and we know some who have won. The difference? Those who won hated their impurity. They were going to war and were going to win – or die trying. It is impossible to avoid such temptations but, thankfully, not impossible to confront them and gain victory over them!

??Millions have found Every Man’s Battle the single greatest resource for overcoming the struggle and remaining strong in the face of temptation. This phenomenal study examines the stories of dozens who have escaped the trap of sexual immorality and presents a practical, detailed plan for any man who desires sexual integrity.

Beginning January 23 | L107
Thursdays | 9:00a
Beginning January 26 | L107
8 weeks | Book Fee $15
Onsite Childcare Available for Thursday Morning Only

James: Mercy Triumphs, the newest study by Beth Moore, is an eight week study on the Book of James. James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.
In this study, Beth is introducing a 5-tiered study approach that she has never done before.

  • Level 1: Watch the video sessions only.
  • Level 2: Watch the video sessions and do the homework each week.
  • Level 3: Watch the video sessions, do the homework each week, and, as you study, write out the entire Book of James.
  • Level 4: Watch the video sessions, do the homework each week, write out the Book of James, and complete the “What could I do to go deeper?” section each week. This section is written in collaboration with Beth’s daughter Melissa.
  • Level 5: Watch the video sessions, do the homework each week, write out the Book of James, complete the “What could I do to go deeper?” section each week, and memorize the entire Book of James.
